You move to cards or codes; the turnstile stays, only the reader and identity layer change.

In most installations the turnstile mechanics and the panel stay the same and the reader is replaced. This is a separate service item planned together with the installer.
The second half of the migration is destroying the old biometric records; deactivation is not enough.
