Hardware-independent · No biometrics

Keep your turnstile. We'll make its data work for you.

TurniGate doesn't sell hardware. It uses the access records your existing turnstile already produces to show who is in the building right now, who hasn't arrived and where everyone is in an emergency.

Keep your hardware. Upgrade what it can do.

The turnstile, panel and reader stay where they are, and you keep working with the company that installed them.

The problem and the solution

A card read is only the beginning

A card reader only tells you that a card was read. It does not tell you who is late for Period 1, which area is full, who is missing, or who is safe in an emergency. TurniGate is the software layer that turns the raw signal into those answers.

  1. You own this1

    Existing access hardware

Turnstiles, readers and panels emit raw signals.

  2. TurniGate2

    Event normalisation

Every vendor format becomes one canonical event.

  3. TurniGate3

    Rules and school logic

Timetable, late thresholds, zones and roles are applied.

  4. Your staff see this4

Information the school can act on

Attendance, occupancy, alerts and the emergency roll.

Raw signal

“Card 8F:22 read at 08:41”

No identity context, no timetable, no direction, no confidence. One line in a hardware log.

TurniGate event

“Elif K. · 8-A arrived late via Gate B (+14 min)”

Matched to a person, linked to the timetable, flagged late, attendance draft updated, parent informed.

Core capabilities

One event stream, six answers

Each card answers a question a school asks every day. The small screens on the cards are drawn with sample data.

Who is in the building right now?

Not how many people came in by the end of the day, but who is inside right now. Students, staff, visitors and contractors appear in one list.

  • Three separate lists: arrived, not yet arrived and late.
  • Occupancy by zone, such as floor, block, canteen and playground.
  • If a device stops reporting, the count isn't hidden; the last known state is shown along with how old the data is.
Live presence and occupancy

Teachers don't fill in the list from scratch; they only correct the differences

Gate records pre-fill attendance. Every row shows where its data came from: the gate, the teacher, a manual entry or an import.

  • Period-level attendance alongside day-level attendance.
  • Three separate lists: late, left early and absent.
  • Who corrected a record, and when, is shown under the row.
Attendance and absence

Parents don't just receive notifications; they have a say

Entry and exit notifications are only the start. Everything a parent initiates is in the same app.

  • Entry, exit, late arrival and absence notifications.
  • Digital permission and early leave requests: the parent asks, the school decides.
  • “Someone else is picking up my child today”: authorised pickup and identity check at the gate.
Parent app

Visitors with an appointment go through the turnstile

The appointment book and the gate decision are no longer disconnected; the security screen shows who is expected that day.

  • The parent requests an appointment, the school decides and the result is sent to the gate.
  • People who are not a legal parent or guardian cannot enter for meetings.
  • Document expiry dates are tracked for contractor entry.
Visitors and appointments

The list is frozen the moment the alarm sounds

In an evacuation, the list is where confusion starts. As soon as an emergency is declared, the presence list is frozen; later movements are kept separately so the two never mix.

  • “Safe”, “injured” and “missing” marks reach the incident lead instantly.
  • For anyone marked missing, the last gate and time they were seen must be entered; if there is no data, it says “no record”.
  • Drills follow the same flow and their duration is recorded.
Emergency and evacuation

Device health and connectors

See every connector, lane and panel — and know which ones you can trust.

  • Online, degraded and offline are shown as separate states.
  • Event lag and delivery gaps are never hidden.
  • An unknown state is never shown as healthy.

The whole school day

From the gate to the school bus, from the card to the SMS

The work around the access signal lives in the same product: school bus and location, card printing, the SMS quota, card matching and the officer's screen at the gate.

School bus and student location

Parents see their child's route on a map and get a notice when the child reaches or leaves a defined place.

  • Tracking is required during school hours; outside school hours the choice is the student's.
  • If location is switched off, the parent sees it — silence never means safe.
  • Data from bus-tracking providers meets in one model: that is where the “boarded the bus but never reached class” alert comes from.

Gift SMS quota

Each school receives half of its yearly SMS need, calculated from its student count, as a gift: 180 messages per student per year.

StudentsYearly gift SMS
25045,000
50090,000
1,000180,000
2,000360,000
  • Notices go to the app first and SMS is only the fallback, so the more parents install the app, the longer the gift lasts.
  • When the quota runs low the administration is told, and the school can buy an extra pack if it wants.
  • Connecting the school's own SMS provider is available on the Plus, Gold and Premium tiers.

Card production and photo line

The school's card printing runs end to end with its contracted card and photo vendor on a single line.

  • Photo-session booking — the school-family association officer can book one too.
  • Print orders for new and transferring students.
  • The vendor sees only the five fields printed on the card: name, class, school, card number and photo.
  • A renewal reminder goes out when a photo gets old.

National ID and card matching

The school pastes its list of national ID and card numbers into the product's own screen; the server does the matching.

  • The list is never sent to an outside AI tool.
  • The raw ID number is never stored anywhere — only a hash made with a key unique to the school.
  • A trial match runs first: matched, not found and invalid rows appear in separate lists, and no row is dropped silently.

Security officer board

The gate display faces the security officer, not the students. Each pass shows the card holder's ID photo in large size.

  • If the card belongs to someone else, the officer spots it — a person makes the comparison, there is no face recognition.
  • A lost card, an unauthorised exit time or a person without a photo raises a coloured alert strip.
  • Without photo consent, an empty photo box appears instead of the ID photo.

Gate camera on card read

The moment a card is read, the camera facing that direction takes a snapshot, which reaches the parent together with the pass record.

  • The parent decides: is the person who used the card really my child?
  • Without consent, no photo is kept.
  • The photo sits behind a short-lived link; no face recognition is run.

How TurniGate works

From the signal at the gate to the school's answer in four steps

No new turnstiles, no rip-and-replace. TurniGate sits above the hardware you already own and makes its signal legible.

  1. 01

    Connect

Existing panels and readers connect through push events, scheduled pulls or the vendor's own interface.

push · pull · vendor interface
  2. 02

    Normalise

Every vendor dialect becomes one canonical event: who, where, which direction, when.

    { person, gate, direction, time }
  3. 03

    Apply rules

Timetables, late windows, zones, roles and escalation turn the raw event into something meaningful.

late = period start + threshold
  4. 04

    Reach the right people

Attendance, occupancy, notifications, visitor and emergency screens — each filtered by role.

    parent · teacher · admin · security

Integration transparency

Different hardware, one event model

What TurniGate can see depends on the wiring, the protocol and the panel configuration. We state plainly what each path delivers — and what it cannot.

Push events

Real-time push: the panel sends events to us itself.

Scheduled pull

Scheduled polling: we query the panel at regular intervals.

Vendor interface

Vendor interface: we read the data through the panel's own interface.

Privacy by architecture

No place for biometrics in this product

In principle decision 2026/921 of 29 April 2026, the Turkish Personal Data Protection Board banned processing biometric data for entry-exit and working-time tracking. We treat this not as a compliance item but as a founding principle of the product.

Fingerprint and face recognition are not used in any version: the data schema has no such fields, the API rejects this data and the adapter strips it out.

  • No fingerprint
  • No face recognition
  • No palm print
  • No iris scan

Short answers

It takes the access records your existing turnstile produces and turns them into a live presence list, occupancy data, a draft attendance register, parent notifications and an emergency list. The turnstile, panel and reader stay where they are.

No. Your existing turnstile and panel stay in place; TurniGate works with the access records they produce.

No, and we don't offer it as an option either. In principle decision 2026/921 of 29 April 2026, the Turkish Personal Data Protection Board banned processing biometric data for entry-exit and working-time tracking.

No. Records collect in a queue and are corrected in the panel. When the user presses “Prepare”, a package is created; a staff member enters the records into the official system and then marks the package as “entered”.

As soon as an emergency is declared, the presence list is frozen. Later movements are kept separately and the two lists are never merged.

Parents can do the same things in the mobile app and in the browser: notifications, permission requests, the dismissal plan and the handover report.
